A few weeks had passed on the mountain and a sizable hatchling eventually assimilated human bodies. His wafer scales also thickened significantly in this time, but remained just as tightly interlocked as before. It took a few days him to absorb each bloodline, so he still had one to go. Unfortunately, the Bronze ranked warriors did not provide anything exceptional, much to his dismay, only a result on par with the mutated glacier wolf. While powerful, his own improvements meant they just barely forced him to the brink of sleep.

He did far more than just devour some human bodies though. With several True spells in his repository, he quickly acquired a collection which dominated this section of the mountain. A thankful result he owed to his bloodline’s adept oral control, imagine if he waited several months just to pronounce harder words like other dragons! He attributed a fair bit of this speed to commonly repeated words across spells too, which eased their memorisation from 18 to just a pittance of 4 or 5!

Glacier Crush, Snow Blade Storm, Water Control, Mental Blast, Mental Shock, Rapid Camouflage, and Momentous Rampage. A large list, and while most appeared rather obvious, the specifics did matter.

Glacier crush created a far larger glacier above his target, while easy to dodge, its damage was no different from a boulder. Combined with a strong downwards force on top of gravity’s acceleration, once it fell he doubted that many stationary creatures could dodge it. For Snow Blade Storm, it achieved an identical result to Wind Blade Storm, but used nearby snow to form small blades. While more akin to ice, the fact this spell used snow as a condition granted it this specific name. And Water Control was a spell he mentioned already, a more specific form of Telekinesis.

Meanwhile, Mental Blast was an extremely rudimentary psychic spell which grew stronger simply by adding more mana. Compared to most Draconic spells, dragons themselves sparsely relied on these variable or adjustable types, making it rare. Mental Shock followed through on expectations and stunned pretty much anything conscious by overloading their mind with a psychic attack. This did minimal damage, just like Stun.

Rapid camouflage modified his scales to blend in with the background, but came with setbacks in that the camouflage was simple and only applied a mask over his appearance. Transformation or a complete illusory effects appeared at Apprentice true spells, far above his capabilities. Lastly, Momentous rampage applied a scale reinforcement which increased his mass purely through mana, used by dragons who wished to charge through something and needed that extra weight in the last moment.

At present, the hatchling’s face chewed and swallowed slim bits of the final corpse, just a Basic spearman, to finally end this period of isolation. He started to learn the spell, Ice Coat, as well, something he argued in favour of weeks ago.
